The G54 Five Percent Oversize Alternator Pulley is intended for modified or high revving MINI R52 and R53 Cooper S and JCW applications where a small reduction in alternator speed is desirable. Increasing the pulley diameter by five percent means the alternator turns slightly more slowly for a given engine speed. This can reduce sustained high speed loading on the alternator during enthusiastic driving while retaining useful charging performance in a sensibly configured vehicle.
The pulley is CNC machined from 6082 grade aluminium billet, with close control of the diameter, belt grooves and mounting interface. Accurate machining supports correct belt tracking and smooth rotation, while the low mass billet form avoids adding unnecessary inertia to the accessory drive. The oversize design must be considered alongside the rest of the belt system, particularly where reduced supercharger pulleys or non-standard crank pulleys are fitted.
Because the pulley alters alternator speed, charging voltage should be checked at idle and under electrical load after installation. The anodised finish provides corrosion resistance and allows the pulley to become part of a coordinated G54 engine bay package. It is an engineering led option for owners who want a measured change rather than a cosmetic modification alone.

Care Instructions
Application: MINI R52 and R53 alternator drive
Recommended equipment: Vehicle lift or safe front access, belt routing reference, suitable sockets, torque wrench, belt tensioner tool, pulley holding or extraction tools as required, and eye protection. An alternator pulley counterhold tool may be required.
Safety first: Work only on a cool, stable vehicle supported by approved lifting equipment. These instructions are an overview; the current OEM workshop procedure and torque data take priority.
Procedure
1. Confirm the alternator type, shaft interface and pulley specification. For the five percent oversize version, verify belt compatibility and the intended charging characteristics before installation.
2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal and wait for the vehicle electrical system to shut down before working near the alternator.
3. Remove the required intake and access components, note the belt routing and release the auxiliary belt with the correct tensioner tool.
4. Inspect the belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, crank damper and alternator bearings. Correct any noise, play or misalignment before fitting the new pulley.
5. Use the appropriate alternator pulley holding and counterhold tools to remove the original pulley. Do not load the alternator shaft or cooling fan with improvised tools.
6. Compare the G54 pulley with the original, checking bore, offset, belt grooves and fastener engagement. Clean the shaft and fit the pulley squarely.
7. Tighten the pulley fastener to the current alternator or vehicle manufacturer specification using the correct holding method.
8. Refit the belt and confirm that all ribs are seated. Rotate the system by hand where permitted and verify clearance before reconnecting the battery.
9. Start the engine and observe belt tracking. Measure charging voltage at idle and with major electrical loads operating.
10. Confirm that charging performance and belt behaviour match the original standard diameter arrangement.
11. Refit all access components and complete a final inspection after a short road test.
