Question about this product?

We're happy to help.

The G54 OEM+ Rear Control Arms are designed for selected rear suspension positions on the Porsche 911 996 and 997. These links help locate the rear wheel carrier and maintain the intended geometry as the car responds to cornering, braking and power delivery. On a high performance rear engined car, accurate control of the rear axle is particularly important for confidence, tyre consistency and predictable handling.

The arms are machined from 6082 grade aluminium billet, with accurate mounting centres and robust bush housings produced on precision CNC equipment. Powerflex polyurethane bushes reduce uncontrolled movement compared with worn original rubber while retaining useful compliance for road driving. The OEM+ specification therefore aims to sharpen response and improve longevity without introducing the harshness associated with solid joints.

Anodising protects the aluminium from corrosion and offers a choice of colours for owners who value the visual detail beneath the vehicle. Installation must be completed with the correct Porsche workshop procedure and followed by a full geometry check, ensuring the benefits of the new arms are realised safely and consistently.

Care Instructions

Application: Porsche 911 996/9997 rear control arm position

Recommended equipment: Vehicle lift, transmission or hub support, suitable sockets and spanners, torque wrench, approved spring or suspension support equipment where required, marking pen, alignment equipment and new single use fasteners where specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Safety first: Work only on a cool, stable vehicle supported by approved lifting equipment. These instructions are an overview; the current OEM workshop procedure and torque data take priority.

Procedure

1. Verify the exact Porsche 997 model, drivetrain, rear axle layout and original arm part number. Differences can exist between Carrera, four wheel drive, Turbo and GT derivatives.

2. Measure and record the existing rear ride height and alignment values. Note the position of any eccentric adjusters, while recognising that a full geometry setup will still be required.

3. Raise the vehicle on a suitable lift, remove the rear wheel and support the wheel carrier securely. Follow Porsche workshop precautions where the suspension spring or damper load affects the arm.

4. Remove the fasteners securing the rear control arm to the subframe and wheel carrier. Use the prescribed sequence and replace all hardware that Porsche identifies as single use.

5. Inspect the subframe, wheel carrier, mounting bores and adjacent links for cracks, distortion, corrosion or damaged threads. Resolve any fault before installing the billet arm.

6. Compare the orientation, mounting centres, bush widths and offsets of the G54 arm with the removed component. Lubricate polyurethane bushes only with the approved assembly lubricant.

7. Install the new arm without forcing it between the brackets. Fit all bolts finger tight and check that the arm moves through its intended range without fouling nearby components.

8. Load the suspension to normal ride height or use a drive on alignment lift. Tighten the fasteners to the current Porsche torque and angle values.

9. Refit the wheel and complete a full Porsche geometry setup, including rear camber and toe. Check thrust angle and steering wheel position.

10. Carry out a controlled road test, followed by a visual inspection of bush seating, clearances and fastener security.

Post installation checks

A Porsche specialist geometry setup is essential after installation.

Confirm that all removed covers, shields, hoses, wiring clips and undertrays are correctly refitted. Record the installation date, mileage and any alignment settings for future servicing.
